Another one from Rombach Farms. Shot with the 24-105@88mm, f/8@1/25. Processed RAW file with LR; added layers of Topaz-Adjust, Topaz-Clean, NIK-Tonal Contrast, Topaz-Simplify and Topaz B&W; then played with the opacity on each layer to bring out the textures and colors in the wood, lichen and rust.

Nice colors, textures, and composition! It's hard to know without being able to click its visibility off and on, but I'm guessing the B&W layer contributed a lot to the feel of this. Great image.

John, I like the careful framing and the rusty chain looks great.

Hi Dennis; you're right...the B&W layer was a huge factor here...I was tempted to leave it as a monotone image, but brought some color back in..still not sure this is the best take on the image, but I like the composition and the elements.

Denise! Welcome back from Alaska, you bum... ...I'm SO jealous. And I'm with you...the 100-400 is vastly under-rated as a lens by many, especially given its close focusing distance and its versatility. Good to see you back!

John, I'm glad you brought some color back in. I like the composition and the textures.

John, Nice image design on this one. I like the textures, and agree that the black and white layer made this special.

I think you hit it out of the ball park on this one, John. Love all that texture and the varying colors that pop from the wood...it's my kind of image!

Hi John, very nicely framed and processed! Love the rusted chain and the weathered cedar.
