This was captured last weekend in the Kruger National Park. I was parked next to a dam where there was a lot of bird activity, and had the pleasure of this giraffe come down to drink on the far side. Although I have other images with a full reflection, although not perfect, I thought I would bring the focus onto the swirl of the water after he lifted his head. Captured vertically.

    Stuart,

These shots are far more difficult to capture than people may imagine. You never know when they are going to lift so well done. A lower POV would have been nice, but impossiblw where you were!

Nice work capturing the decisive moment Stuart. Vertical definitely the right choice here.

Lovely shot and great timing. Well done!

Personally I am not keen on the half reflection but I agree with your reasoning - the swirl is great.

I just want to know if the tongue followed the line of the water; they do have looooooooooong tongues!

    Great image!
    Cheers, Jay
