    Dan,

Looks like you had a tight squeeze here, on my monitor it looks like it needs a tad more sharpening. I would also try to run a little NR on the BG and if possible make it a little bluer?

    Cheers

    Ken

You got good details on the wing (looks like critical focus was on the primaries), and good thing you got the eye peeking out. Good exposure from my end, but I got to admit this pose is not my favorite...I'd prefer either more banking, or more up or down position of the wings. I love gulls...looking forward to more!

Well exposed Dan, with DOF between the near wingtip and head. The eye does show up nicely, and agree, a better wing position would have worked better. Having said that, there are lot of species that tend to do more soaring and gliding than flapping their wings.

    Hi Dan,
you did a good job getting it in sharp focus with nice details but there are a few points worth mentioning. It is better if you had it flying towards you and if it had a more dynamic pose (e.g. banking or incoming) the wings look much better if they are up or down. The flat wings are not very appealing, Artie calls them "pancake" position

    Thanks for the comments,
Ken, I think the photo is pretty sharp, as for the sky, I live the land of gray skies, I am used to them,
and generally screw up if I attempt to color them.
Arash, thanks for the tips as usual. I need a lot of work at BIF photos, I am in awe of yours and others skill here.
I have better angles and shots, I spent the morning shooting Gulls, pretty fun as we have a lot that live
on the Columbia River here, not garbage dump gulls! Very good practice I will try to do more of.
Hope to post some better ones in November.

Great capture! The sharp eye/head made it through. For me, I would not keep the photo (because of the wing position) unless it's for record reason.
