    Cooper's Hawk

    Upper Texas Coast

    D3, 300/2.8, ISO 1000, f2.8, 1/2000, decoy Owl.

Got this adult Coop yesterday under dark gray skies, while shooting with Doug Brown and Mike Gray.
It was quite dark, so I had to shoot wide open and ended up with a high key image (which I hate).
I added a cooling filter to the white sky BG.

I would take this high-key image any day. Sweet image the pose is very dynamic!

It doesn't look high key to me, the detail is terrific, while the BG color doesn't
really appear real, it is attractive and goes well with the hawk.

A superb image. I love the tones on the bird's back . I am not keen on the use of decoys , it's a personal thing I guess.

Your birds rock Alan. The detail is amazing and i love the fanned tail. Since it was mentioned by another could you please explain what you mean by decoy owl? You mean the call?

That's funny...I love high key! I think your sky correction looks good but a true high key shouldn't be so bad (of course, unless you hate HK to start with).

Terrific banking pose, and I love the flared tail. Great eye too that pops nicely among the rest of the cool bluish colours.

Alan, excellent banking pose that shows off the dorsal view nicely. Nice and sharp, and I like what you did to the sky, not that I dont like HK results.

You know how badly I wanted this frame. Kudos to you for pulling it off! And thanks for inviting me out to shoot with you! I had a great time!
