    Default Wood Duck Hen

This image was taken on 10/22/11 at North Chagrin Reservation. I cloned out a few distractions in the water and a double catch light. I added a filter onto the image to give the Wood Duck a more warm color. Wondering how it is perceived by everyone. Thanks for stopping by to look. C & C always welcome.

    Josh:

This little girl looks vaguely familar

The color temp looks good, just a bit warmer than how mine were, but nice.

    Sharp, great water.

Could go just a smidge looser on the crop, and I would clean up the extra catchlights in the reflection

    Cheers

Wonderful hen portrait, Josh. That water is just awesome. Great details, colors, sharpness and reflection. Good tips from Randy.

Great shot Josh, like how the wings are showing the color and detail. Good use of flash, gorgeous water color and nice and sharp. She looks like she is relaxed. Might clean up the partial eye in the reflection and a bit more water clean up. Both very easy. Great job on this.

Very nice water, I do think the colors are too warm, the water looks great, but the duck colors look too brown,
    particularly the purple back feathers.

    Josh,
Excellent water colors and texture, the IQ is excellent as well as the exposure, the Low angle really gets it. Lots to like about this one. You captured her personality perfectly. The catch-light in the reflection as noted and perhaps, maybe a tad warm, also theres a bright spec below here neck on the body that really draws my eye and the water in front of her some specular highlights I might consider removing since the water around her is so pristine. I too might also consider a sliver off the bottom in the crop as well.... Excellent as presented , with nothing changed an outstanding image, The flash really popped those water colors and reflections nicely... the warmth, specs, and crop are just personal tastes. Great work, enjoyed shooting with you as always!

Funny you mentioned the extra catchlight Randy, I never even noticed (or thought to look at the reflection). That being said, I'm glad that you and others pointed that out because I overlooked that. After staring at my own image in PP for so long can go crosseyed sometimes. Appreciate feedback from eveyone and will take it into consideration when I revist the image to remove the extra catchlight in her reflection.

Never saw the specular highlights in the reflection either Dan, thanks for pointing it out. That managed to elude me as well.
