Conversion works well Harshad, with good detail & clarity. Having the Ox Peckers just adds a nice touch to the image.

A pretty powerful B&W image for sure, but I would like to see Morkel's version with the Nik software to see if he can add a bit more pop to it. The oxpeckers are a great plus to this one. Love the way the hippo turned toward you for the photo op.

I think you will find it's a Rhino Marina.

Thank you for the correction, Steve. I do know the difference but after I actually get to Africa and have a chance to see them for the first time, I hope not to make this gaffe again.

    Harshad,

Have you lost your crayons ? Nice looking animal. I rather like the comparative lack of contrast here. Plenty of detail in the hide for me and some nice subtle changes of tones and textures in the grass.

Harshad - this is great in b&w. The pose and comp work really well and the oxpeckers only add to it. Looks like a skinny rhino.

No B&W Master here, I'm afraid but a B&W fan and this one is a beauty for me. Love the detail and the light and the toning too (just a couple of spots maybe worth looking at toning down a bit more, but they are not really "hot," so okay).

Harshad - I love this...well framed and well processed with just the right contrast and tonal range for me. I could see it going in a few directions here...with either less or more contrast...but that is all subjective.

IQ is great. Toning works well too.

Bhai, excellent conversion, but the colour version is just as good. Overall tack sharp, and the oxpeckers add interest. Love the texture of the hide.

Okay, I'm back from a weekend away and had a chance to play with the colour version...might I just add the colour version is awesome, Harshad...love the layers, soft light and colour palette...
Gave it a whack in Silver Efex 2...a bit more "contrasty" than your OP, but also an option...went for a bit more of a high-key look on the grass by using a red filter.
That being said I love your OP B&W version, top marks...

    Harshad,

Given the fact that the colour version is to my eyes at lest infinitely better I really do not see what if any purpose there is in a B & W version.

BTW having compared both B& W posts side by side in PS I think your B & W is much better

If nothing else, how about options to play with if it's just too long to go until your next trip . (I know that's not a scenario some people ever find themselves in, but others do ).

An interesting concept which I believe does not apply to Harshad or myself.
