Extremely annoying to most people, but I took it as a challenge to get some
feather color and definition of this most common bird.
Let me know how you think I did.

Sharpness, detail and exposure look great to me! Maybe a bit big in the frame for me.

    Dan:

Good job showing the subtle color and details in the black.

    Agree, too tight vertically.

In a perfect world, would wish the head to be turned a sliver more away, to light up the face more evenly. Kind of like reverse head angle thinking, but would have been nice.

Beautiful detail; great job on the exposure. Ditto the above, re crop.

Great pose, colours, exposure. Tight in the frame, as others have mentioned. I would also look at dusting the tail feathers I got some full frame head portraits a few weeks ago and I was stricken at the beautiful purple sheen of the shoulder area...as you have here.

Dan, well firstly, you certainly nailed the exposure and sharpness. The light has also brought out the iridescence very well. The only downside to the image is as others have mentioned, the crow is a touch too large in the frame.

Thanks for the comments, I tried different crops, If I went for more at the top (I had some, although not much, I was pretty close),
it looked square. If I went vertical, the position also looked kind of odd with the head at the far left.
I'll work on it a bit. I actually need to think at bit more about in-camera framing when I take the shots!
