This is the mate to the wood duck drake I posted last night. They always get shown up by the hubby, but I like them too! I thought her coy head position was rather charming

    Advice and comments always appreciated.

What a great pair of matching prints this and your drake shot would make! Love the HA on this one in addition to all the usual: fantastic color, sharpness, comp, etc..

Another excellent shot! With such gorgeous BG I would have liked to see the bird smaller in the frame with a slightly more interesting composition.

    Ofer:

I have a modest amount of more canvas in all directions except to the left. I lost a bit there when I leveled the bird. So, cropped the other sides to suit what I had left on the left. What did you have in mind?

This is the what I had before cropping. One feather in the water I didn't clean up on right because I knew I would be cropping it out.

Something like that. I have also applied a tiny CW rotation.

Yes, your repost looks much nicer IMO. Maybe just a tiny bit more room on the left and a tiny CW rotation.

Again love the colours and this species of duck. She is not as colourful as the male but lovley none the less. The CW rotation as done by Ofer make a difference.

Great shot of this hen Randy. The females are often overlooked with regards to the more colorful males. Though the females are unique looking in their own way and just a photogenic as you clearly illustrated above. I like to shoot the hen Woodies as much as the drake Woodies. Gorgeous water color here and nice use of fill as well. Brings out the details very nicely. I am ok with the first post. I don't think the back end is too tight. Nice meeting you this past weekend.

Beautiful shot. Don't usually get to see such a close-up portrait of the hen. Great water color, detail. I like Ofer's repost (repeat cloning marks in the water could be addressed).

I too am happy you had a bit more canvs to work with as I prefer the subject not so big in the frame.

Super pose, lots of nice details, and I love that there are some streaks of green mixed in with the golden hues of the water. I do prefer the curved ripple in front of the subject, rather than the straightened one of the repost...

Randy, you are becoming a master at wood ducks, as you are with your loons. No complaints from the HA police here, and love the splash of colour on her. Excellent detail on her too. Interesting texture to the water, together with the colours. Since you do have canvas on the LHS, adding a touch more behind the tail wont harm the image. Ofer's repost has done the trick.

    Randy,
Very nice, You caught that Happy look on here face, the Head angle is ideal, Water colors and texture I find complimentary and the Detail an IQ excellent. In the repost I too like the CW rotation as well as the added canvas behind... It's a shame she doesn't get the attention the Drake does as I find them just as beautiful.
