Taken a few days ago on an overcast day.
I cropped a bit off bottom and tad more from top.

    Dave:

Nice to see a common loon this late in the season. His molt is quite a bit behind ours in Mich. as they looked like this around the bill by the end of August.

I like the down the barrel pose, slightly raised wing with drops good exposure.

The overcast weather makes for a very cold feeling image. Gives me the shivers.

    Cheers

Great head on pose on this one. Nice eye contact. Nice job on the exposure as well. I like the low profile approach as well.

I like this image alot. Nice straight-on stare and the bright overcast light made for good exposure on this fella. I also like the water drops trailing off the raised far wing. I do think some CW rotation would be good

    Thanks Guys,

I was quite surprised to see the feather detail on this fellow as well. He must have just arrived but still seems late as compared to others already in winter plumage.

I see what you mean Daniel about the rotation. I 'll check other photos in the series.

Wonderful shot. Great shooting angle and very good head angle.
    Well done.
