Starting to get into the Halloween "spirit" around here. Took this image during the day at a local cemetery in 2009. Used Color Efex to add a midnight filter, then a dark vignette. Final step was the addition of a "spirit" with the help of a Photoshop smoke brush.

Outstanding, Jules. The colors, the vignette, the composition, and what a great job on the spirit ... Wow.

I have no idea how you knew there was such a thing as a smoke brush, but thanks for mentioning it. What a perfect place to use it, and the curves are just right. I'm guessing you use a Cintiq monitor or a tablet.

I use neither, Dennis...just tool around on the cheap monitor that someone gave me when mine broke a few years back.

Google "Free photoshop smoke brush" and you'll see just how many are out there. I tried about 30 of them before I found the one that would wrap the way I wanted it to. Adusted the opacity level to around 20% and there it was!

Julie, I'm late to the party...but that's a "smokin" image (sorry..I really couldn't resist! ). I might have brightened it just a smidge...but then again, you might loose that spooky ambiance if you did...well done!

Very creative & spooky Halloween image, Jules! Nice base image, and like your application of the midnight filter, and spirit was a great touch.

John, agree about how dark it is...it is darker here than on my monitor at home. Thanks everyone for your comments. I've been envisioning this for awhile but only recently figured out how to make it all come together.
