Thanks for looking and appreciate the comments.

This is gorgeous, Gary. One of the best wood duck portraits I've seen.
Terrific expo, comp and light. The colors are stellar.

Really nice portrait Gary. Love the detail, color, and eye contact. Solid exposure of a challenging subject. I might try brightening the non-black darks a little; the black cheek patch is just about impossible to pull any detail out of.

Thanks Sidharth and Doug. Here is a slightly lightened version. Hope it is better.

Beautiful bird huh? You captured a great portrait as well. I much prefer the repost as the small tweak made more of a pop.

    Gary:

Really sweet, sharp, well exposed, handsome subject. The repost is better. I think it could even go another 1/4 stop or so brighter yet, but very nice as is.

I think its fun that we have had three different photos already from the same day, and they are all so different.

    Keep them coming!

    Cheers

    A nice looking portrait.

Hi Gary, you have brought out the colours so well here, tack sharp, and your comp works well. Congrats on a fine image.

Excellent portriat shot Gary. It was a pleasure meeting you this past weekend. I like the up close intimate shot of the drake you captured. Nice job of bringing out the purple in the cheek as well. All around a great photo of this guy.
