This was taken at Rietvlei Dam (Gauteng) this morning. Used burn tool on some areas in BG.

You sure came close to it by the looks of this, Pieter! Love the detail. Light seems to have been a tad harsh - late morning?

Beautiful detail on a gorgeous bird. The harsh light on the rock might use some more burn, to make it less distracting.

Bird looks a little frazzled. Nice colors, exp on the bird looks good. Agree with darkening the rock, sad the light angle shaded part of the blue on the tail. All in all I like it.

Thanks Morkel - Yes it does look like late morning - we were in at 6 a.m and this pic was taken just before 7. The sun was already very bright in fact, we called it a day by 8.30 a.m.
Bill - Thank you and agree with you that the rock needs more work.
Gary - Thank you for your comments. I think that the bird might just have had a splash in nearby water as it was already very hot for that time of the morning.
