Default Canon Mark II N compatibility with SDHC cards?

    Dear All,

I've ordered Sandisk SD Extreme III 4GB, but instead of this card, I\ve received Sandisk SDHC Extreme III 4GB.

Is this card fully compatible with Mark II N and does it has the same read/write speeds as the initial
Sandisk SD Extreme III 4GB card?

I have the card unpacked, so if anybody knows it is not compatible, I'll return the card without any problems, being sealed.

    Thanks in advance.

Why don't you check out the database at the Rod Galbraith site He has tested just about any card camera combination You will see the speed information

    Here is a link http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/index.asp

    OMFG
this card is a total disaster with the Mark II N !!!

I've just executed a test: 8fps up to the buffer full of the camera - 49 frames total. Given the 6 seconds for the shooting, here are the results (excluding the 6 seconds):

SanDisc CF Extreme IV 4GB - 17 sec.
SanDisc CF Extreme III 4GB - 22 sec.
SanDisc SD Extreme III 2GB - 21 sec.
SanDisc SDHC Extreme III 4GB - 37 sec.

Tommorow will go to return the item in the shop!

That's quite a difference in speed, don't blame you for returning it. As a side note, SD cards only go up to 2GB, anything over that and they become SDHC (SD High Capacity). I believe the Mark II N needed the latest firmware to work with SDHC, afraid I don't know anything about how it performs with them though (works brilliantly in the Mark III - but that doesn't help you much).

of course we have the latest version of the firmware ;)
instead of SDHC I will buy a CF IV 4gb, because I'm very satisfied with its 17 sec test result :)
