This is an image from late August. A recently harvested grain field makes a great BG. To me this little one has the innocent awkwardness of an adolescent. Perhaps that is why I was able to get relatively close for the shot. Clear mid afternoon, Nikon D200, Nikkor 600mm with 1.4TC, f6.3, 1/500, iso 200, aperature priority, matrix, beanbag on truck window. Postprocessing ACR mainly correcting a one stop under exposure. I did not account for the bright grain field bg. Not much else aside from selective sharpening. C & C appreciated.

    Gary,

Techs looks very good and nice sharp image. Lots of details.

Regarding composition, perch is little inclined towards right and this makes the subject inclined too. I would straighten the perch and subject. Just my personal taste. Crop some thing similar to this.

Really nice Gary. I must say I think the incline in the OP looks more natural but I think this is because you can see both versions side by side. Sid's repost would look fine if the original had not been seen. For the wall I would remove the two smudges on the right hand side.

John, thanks for picking up the smudges. I also prefer the crooked post.
