Harshad, nice image, I like it a lot.
Have you consider to convert it to B&W, with those clouds it would be amzing...

Great view. I really like it. Some nice interaction between you and the elephants and among the elephants themselves.

I'm never sure whether to leave those clouds blue or turn them gray. In an effort at realism I usually end up with something wishy-washy in between and I think you're right to embrace one choice fully.

Guessing you didn't tilt the horizon so as to keep the bottom of the clouds straight? Interesting.

Harshad - Glad you went wide here. I like this a lot though would be curious to see it with the blues in the clouds toned down. The cloud formations are great. One nit, the elephant furthest to the right has a halo around it where it is against the sky.

I like the procession of elephants leading across the image, with the 'matriach' waiting and the two sparing. The crop ratio works well too, just personally not convinced on the depth of blue, wether the whites need opening up, or the black reduced in the whites, just unsure???? Certainly is a dramatic backdrop either way, did it rain?

Love the wide perspective here Bhai - and love the sky!
I do feel the sky is a tad too 'cyan'...so I tried bringing back the 'blue'...what do you think?
I also feel if you have space in the original that it could use a CW rotation as the horizon at the back tends to give the impression that it's skew?

Love the drama in this image although it is really early here and I'm very blurry I wanted to give a comment before I head off. I do like Morkel's version as well. A quick comment and I don't have time to open the image in PS but the tusks look overly bright. Perhaps they are ok in the large version? I like the way almost all the elephants are looking towards you but wish that the 2nd on the right was turned completely away as I feel it would have been better if it had been slightly side on. Looking forward to more.

Hi, I did a significant leveling (everybody was leaning to the left) and a cleanup. The grounds are an even color and anything dark tends to grab the eye.

    Harshad,

I hope you do not mind me stepping and commenting on the reposts, before you get the chance.

I found the OP to have a very nice sky which I thought people may raise the "too blue" question, even though to me it looks perfectly natural.

I find Morkel's repost to be just too much of a good thing and the blues are far too strong, Jay's post is better in this respect and I quite like the slight crop applied to the width, presumably as a result of the rotation

The question on CCW is too my mind, as it always is, strange. I have yet to see a flat horizon on land with the possible exception of places like the salt pans in Mgagagadi and Etosha, I would be interested in your thoughts on this.

Regarding leveling, since there was no indication that a bubble was used, and the legs seem to lean, I straightened the horizon. Harshad?

Nice composition Harshad. While the sky is nice and dramatic, the two elephants on the ends make this one for me. The one on the left side keeping the line moving and the one on the right waiting for them to continue following.

Ken, that's the beauty of perception .
To me, in the OP the cyans are "far too strong" so in the end it's not to enforce anything on Harshad, it's to give him options. Maybe I overdid it...as I often do in reposts to point out what I was referring to.
In the end, I also like images to have a bit more 'punch' than you do (something I think we both realise), and there's nothing wrong with differing on these things...

Obviously one gets undulations in most areas, with ground sloping one way or another. I think Jay summed it up nicely - the ellies all seem to just be leaning a bit to the left, which is always a good indication if one questions the 'levelness' of the inferred horizon in the frame...

Then that is fine, Harshad...wasn't sure how the scene 'actually' looked, can only comment on what is framed and displayed. Have I mentioned this is your best elephant post to me? Would love to have it in my portfolio...

Harshad - I forgot to post one more repost last night - if I may
I know how much you "love" a good monochrome image ...but couldn't resist playing with this one. It'll look a lot better if done from the RAW file as there are many pixelations and artifacts that show up when converting a low-res compressed JPG such as this, but just to give you an idea.

I played from the 'infrared' preset in CS5 and tweaked it a bit. I always like applying a red filter to darken the cyan and blue skies. Again - won't be for everyone's tastes, but another option...

For everybody who worries about CW rotation, I suggest trying the following in PS.

Go to view select "extras", then "show" and select grid, utilising this on Harshad's OP clearly show the Elephants to be "upright".

Perhaps it is the rising horizon that is causing an optical illusion?

Ken, I guess we see it differently. If they were upright in the OP they would be severely leaning in my RP, which they are not.
