The raised wings of the front too birds could be nice along with the raised foot of the very front bird. The fact that the birds overlap though keeps this image from working well as a silhouette or almost silhouette.
Then, with dark subject and dark background, I think this would be a very hard image to pull off. Maybe an even lower angle to get the birds against a lighter BG (if possible, for all I know there could be dark trees back there) or a bit of flash.
This one will have to go down as a good try for me. I thought of suggesting making the blacks truly black as Fabs suggested but then you would lose the bill of the second bird... I think that if you included the expsoure data especially how you metered, we could better help you. What folks need to realize is that even when creating images that are meant to be silhouettes, that there needs to be some data in the right-most box of the histogram. Here, I would bet that that is not the case... later and love, artie
