    Default Inconceivable Loss....

As the sun was about to set at Merrit Island NWR, I was spending time with the Florida Scrub Jays for the first time in my experience. They are clearly sooo intelligent and inquisitive ( not to mention beautiful). So easy to approach; and you feel a connection in their eyes. It is inconceivable we as a nation are considering possibly destroying one of their last habitats to further expand exploration of space while our own home cries for better care! Here's hoping we find our way to preserve such beauty right here on mother earth!

The bird is lovely. Sharp beautiful details and light. Very nice hed angle and composition. Whatever you did to the bg in post processing however, is not attractive. It is most noticeable in the green leaves at the birds crown, and under the chin.

This is a beautiful capture of the Scrub Jay David, I was able to see this bird first hand with my wife just Thursday, What a treat to see and behold. I agree with your assessment about being crowded out. What a shame that they only like the scrub habitat to survive. They will probably not be around any more in a few years,

I am still in the early stages of learning but this image as well as your brief commentary has touched me. Thank you for sharing.

Really beautiful Jay, the sharpness is great and the details and colors are wonderful to look at.

I agree with Linda that the green blotches in the BG are distracting.

Very nice picture, love the feather detail and accurate colors. I was at Merritt Island this past weekend, amazing how tame this bird are.

Yes Linda, There were some specular highlights in that area which I "attempted" to clone out. Clearly, I've got to get further expertise on photoshop techiques. Do you pros know a good single source for advanced techniques?
