    Default need guidance for calibration

    Hello friends,

just got my new HP G6-1201TX laptop. I have macbook pro and Spyder 3. I calibrated the HP and found it really different than macbook pro's display.

I know it would differ but here the problem are colors . totally different i cant makeout which one is true now.

Can someone guide me how can i go near to macbook's calibration and from what i am posting here in AVIAN seems pretty near to calibration from macbook and so i wanted to do same for my hp.

    Please guide.

    Mital,

This is a tough problem. One needs a reference chart both physical and on the computer. Do you have a macbeth color chart? I found this which might help if you do:
    http://www.ae5d.com/macbeth.html
and on that page is a link to:
    http://www.ae5d.com/mcc.html

So if you have a physical copy you could compare it to the online version (assume looking at the physical chart in good light, like sunlight).

If you don't have a macbeth color chart, find some colors around your house (box of crayons, colorful blanket, etc) and photograph it in good sunlight then compare the photo to the real thing (viewed in sunlight). Use standard setting on the camera (or standard raw conversion).

Mital- I've seen this too, between a Macbook screen and a third-party monitor. Calibrate both with the Spyder and they look different. In theory this shouldn't happen if the Spyder is doing its job.

    Hi John,

I've had a lot of these problems on windows, much better experience on linux. Buy even with calibration, different model monitors can appear different. If they use different dyes, for example, so the spectral response to each color is different, some colors can never be made to agree. In theory, if the spectral response matched that of the eye, then we would see no difference, but that is not possible. It is amazing that it comes out as good as it does considering the bizarre spectral response of the eye (it is negative at some wavelengths).
