This pose reminds of a martial arts stance a Shilon Priest might take before attacking thus the title. Not sure if this image will get a ticket from the HAP but the frame with the best HA has the least interesting wing position.

Lots to like about this one: sharp, nice pose and EXP. I am fine with the head angle.

Really nice, the HA isn't bad, the wings, sharpness and smooth processing more than make up for it.

Love the foot and not fused about the HA. Nice coloured bird. Sharp. Sense of movement and the hunt is on.

    Don:

Looks a bit like a reddish egret to me

Dynamic pose, esp the foot, well exposed, the streak in the water adds to the sense of motion and flow.

Might consider a version cropped up just above your sig, because of the weak reflection.

    Cheers

excellent photography here. having gradient blue bg complimenting a lot to the browns of neck and grey's on wing.
Shooting point is good here and leaving footsteps with ripples quite nice.

AIA a very well action shot.

Great title Don and a very sharp and perfectly exposed heron. The foreground and background are just right.

Im fine with the HA too. What makes this image for me is the raised leg and foot position. Super light and colours, and if anything, I would have moved him slightly back to the right a tad.

To me it's more than a head tilt than a head angle...if that makes sense. Either way, it lends itself toward the intensity of the hunting bird. Very nice.

Very interesting pose. The eye is sharp and the bird is focused on prey. Love the way the bird really stands out from the background and the mirror like foreground. Superb photo.

Beautiful image Don! I like the hunting action, raised foot and composition.
