Wonderful pose with the open beak, and I love the comp with the triangle of shells. Whites are not technically blown (I don't see anything higher than 230 on ColorPic) but it appears that way, I guess because of the strong light and high contrast. I wonder if reducing the contrast would help. In any event, a handsome shot. In a perfect world the reflection might have been less distorted.

Beautiful composition. The bright whites don't really bother me as the natural light is strong and bright.
I would tone them down just to see the difference, but whatever the choice, I love it!

Lovely bird and image design. Exquisite actually. A 10-15% Linear Burn on the WHITEs might do miracles.... I would not mind a bit more room top, left, and bottom. Love the rocks. Heck, the image rocks!

Love the pose and the reflection. Without seeing the RAW its hard to know why there is no detail could be caused by the angle of the light or the image could have been overexposed and corrected in post. Either way if you even out the tonalities thru out the image the brighter neck area would not draw the viewers attention and it probably would not even be noticed.

Image design is amazing - Maybe a bit more room as AM suggests. The shells and rocks are lovley. Nice looking bird but the whites seem to lack detail in some parts.

Nice composition. Like the details, high key look & symmetry. TFS

Thanks all. I will see if I can tease anymore detail out of the whites. Just to note, this was early morning, around 7am light, and the whites were originally ok.

more then likely the lack of detail is caused by the angle of light you really need it be slightly off angle to create shadows which define detail. Here is a thread by Roger that explains the importance of light angle http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...ht=Roger+clark

Beautiful image Ben! I like the composition, reflection and pose. I would add a little more room on the top as well.
