    Default Juvenile Herring Gull

    Canon 7D | Canon EF300/2.8L USM
    f/3.2 | 1/1600 sec | ISO400 | EX +-0
    Handheld | no flash | WB 7500K

All feedback very welcome. Does the DOF work? Does the crop work? Thank you guys for looking at my photo.

BTW not 100% sure this is a herring gull. Someone probably can identify it better than me.

Hi Mats- Love the low angle and the focussed grass over the breast. I like the OOF grass down below as it provides a soft lead-in to the focus point. It would have been better not to have the creamy splotch at the left and the reddish splotch at the right. Those are easily dealt with but better to do it in camera if you can (in my opinion!). The crop does not work for me but this is a personal thing to some degree. The subject needs more space on the left and I don't see enough interest the the sky to include so much.

Looks like a juvenile Herring Gull to me, meaning it was a chick in the year to made the image.
