    Default Cheetah rising

Cheetah female with her cub were sitting on a raised piece of ground looking like they had recently fed. The cub moved off into the shade and eventually the mother decided to get up and follow.

Hilary - nice alert pose, well captured. I like the raised tail. Maybe a little more room below if you have it. Looks nicely processed.

Nice portrait Hilary, like the intense stare, but with having the raised tail certainly conveys that feeling she is weighting things up, ready to pounce.

Another image well processed, would agree a fraction more at the foot of the image would be good, but no deal breaker. I was going to ask if you did any work on the eyes, but opening it up in PS the colours look really good and the eyes look perfect.

This image has a great pose in particular the tail, but to my eyes at least, the Cheetahs eyes are the major problem here.

They are looking down and you cannot see them clearly, this is often a problem with Cheetahs as the eye is fairly deep set.

Having also opened this in PS it appears that the eyes have not been lightened, perhaps doing so might help.

I am reminded of the critique I received some time ago on one of my many Cheetah images

"The only thing I would wish for was that the Cheetah looking into camera"

Hi Hilary, as mentioned pose is great and the light is nicely managed with good detail and colour on the Cheetah. TFS.

Very sharp and well exposed Hillary.
The raise tail gives a nice sense of action and the habitat with the FG grass is nice.
I wish for a bit more eye contact, my only critique of this fine photo.

Thanks everyone. I'm away for a couple of weeks with intermittent Internet access. I didn't touch the eyes, not sure how real the result would appear. Would respond further but time is short.

IQ is looking better with every post Hilary! Nice "frame-filler" and the light conditions were well handled. As mentioned, a little more eye-contact would have been super!

Harshad, nice to see you back. Threads are like conversations, they develop and move in all sorts of ways so no problems. After several full on days of photography seminars my head is full to bursting with information and ideas so no space for anything else ... and I'm off to Rome in 2 days for a conservation forum so I'm very relaxed. No photos though, no wildlife!
