Elk in winter at a Refuge in the Oregon coast range.
I was going to post this in Landscape, but it probably belongs here.

Very nice animalscape Dan and would be at home in either forum, in my view. It would have been great if those closest elk and lifted their heads and looked your way, but it is a peaceful scene with nice depth created by the shadow area and the sunlit background. Having the shadow and the sunlit area does accentuate the cold tones of shadows, especially with the snow. I would have rathered the walking elk on the rhs wasn't cut off, but I like the image very much. TFS.

Dan - I like the fall colors and the mist of the upper bg. I agree with Hilary and would crop to the open space on the rhs so that there are no partial elk. I might also apply a little more sharpening to the elk in the fg.

Hi Dan, would agree with some of the above points, but would also suggest reducing the Blue overall and dropping the some of the black in the white channel. Gives a cleaner feel, but still retains the overall setting IMHO.

    cheers

Lovely winter scene captured here Dan. I like the layers of colour and light . Good suggestions above and I would also remove the partial Elk. TFS

Lovely scene here Dan - love the layers and the colours...except the "blue" which Steve addressed in his repost. The fall of light is quite cool...

Thanks for the comments and suggestions.
I like the repost, mine is too blue (I struggle with colors for some reason),
and as soon as I posted I realized that I cut the elk in half!
    Almost reposted.
Nice to get the feedback you get here.
