    Default signature brush in CS5

f've done this before and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I opened a new blank file, typed the copywright symbol, my name, and 2011.
I then went to edit, define new brush, and saved it. No problem.
The problem occurs when I go to use the brush it's very faint. If I use the text tool on a new image it's fine, but not the brush. I can see it, but I can't set it to a new color and it just is very faint. I saved it as Bold.
    Any one have a suggestion?
    Thanks
    Stan

That happens to me every now and then. Always when I forget and post it to some intermediate layer with low opacity.

I don't see anything wrong with your steps

No, I was trying to post it on the background at full opacity. Tried making it twice but not sure what I'm doing wrong.
Love your statement on the bottom, I too have raw talent when it comes to making mistakes!

I just did the following and it worked

    (1) Create a new file with a white background
    (2) Type in the text that I want, color, font, etc
    (3) Draw a selection around just the text using the rectangular marquee tool
    (4) Edit> Define Brush Preset
