Hello, taken earlier in the year, just liked the look and the way the light reflection illuminated his neck reducing the shadow, I hope you like it.

    Comments appreciated.

    Gary"

Rather striking with the brilliant red eyes, strong colors on head/neck and blues in water and BG.

Very interesting effect of the bill shadow being moderated by the reflected light. Excellent exposure.

I might try to reduce the contrast just a bit.

    Great shooting angle too.

    Cheers

This is a very difficult bird to photograph; should I ever have the chance... Like the low angle, the nice water, and seeing both of those red eyes. Great job with the EXP. For this pose I would have liked to have seen both eyes staring right down the lens barrel.

If you have a classic side portrait from this session I would love to see you post it here for comparison.

Very true, but at least the surface of the water should be clean with all the rain, and some of the best spots are isolated.

Sure, this was at the Kellogg Bird Sanctuary. Laying on my stomach and shooting through a chain link fence. I usually bring a pad because there are a ton of geese. It can be tricky but worth it to achieve the low angle.

Handsome bird, perfect exposure and excellent light. Love the low angle and the wavelets around the duck.
I love this image. If anything I'd have liked more dof.

Tanks. I often wonder why wildlife places with chain link fences never think of building in a few viewing openings when they erect the fences...

Great low angle and head on pose. For me the head /face feels a little dark. The shadow confused me as I wasn't sure if it was a shadow or open bill. Nice job

Thanks, Since the theme is too much contrast, here is another take.
