    Default Feeding time

I was going to post another photograph of the Lewa lioness from yesterday, but with a different pose then I came across this lioness feeding her (and/or her sister's)cubs in my files and thought I'd work on this one instead as it has the same low light, low contrast Raw file. I've tried to increase the contrast, hopefully not too much. Not shot with the 7D but the 5Dmk2 which has given me a nicer base image to work with.

    5Dmk2; 100-400 @ 300mm; ISO800; 1/200 @ f8 Overcast day.

Processing looks good here. Enough contrast applied to liven up the low contrast light. Pose is perrrrrfect with the adult looking towards you and all the cubs lined up for dinner.

Hi Hilary, works for me, looks like she has got her paws full with that amount of cubs.

Hope the pointers raised on the last thread helped and the thoughts expressed by Peter were fruitful. Looks like we will be taking pointers from you soon.

    Keep up the good work.

Hi Hilary, good perspective, with a lovely pose from mom. Comp is spot on, as are the colours and exposure. What a great sighting to witness so many cubs together.

As Robert noted, a very nice pose and composition with the grouping of mum and cubs. Colors/contrast look good.

Thank you for the encouraging feedback. With the help of Morkel, Steve and Peter in particular who have shared some specific processing steps, I think I have managed to simplify my workflow to get a better end result. No where near finished as I haven't tackled some of the trickier files, but I have dumped some of the more complicated work arounds which were messing with my head (and the image )

It shows how valuable constructive critiquing can be if people are generous with their time and expertise and you practise hard. So thanks everyone!

IQ looks good here Hilary - as does the PP...
I like how she looked at you while her cubs are feeding all-in-line.

...and it's a pleasure ...looking forward to your results from upcoming trips too!
