    Default Black Crowned Night Heron

Hi all, this is my first post. I've been looking around for awhile, and have to admit, iv'e been a bit hesitant to post, the quality of photography here is just amazing. Kudos to all, amazing work. This is a shot taken near my home, the shot has been cropped, and had some adjustments on shadows/highlights and some USM.[IMG][/IMG]

Hi Don, and a big welcome to BPN! Very solid first post; like your choice of a flight shot. Great eye contact, nice wing position, and some sweet light make for a pleasing image. I even like the shadow. I would like to see a looser crop, and I might run a touch more USM. Please try to include your EXIF data along with your images. Look forward to seeing more of your photos!

It is not easy to take a flight shot of this species, as they usually hide during the day.
Great first post and welcome to BPN Don.

Hello neighbour Don! That's a very nice first post. I agree that backing off the crop a bit to give the bird more room would be beneficial, as well as a tad more usm might boost the detail a bit. But the lighting is sweet, the wing position is good and you caught the bird before it was too far along. Maybe meet you on the trails out there some day.
