Wanted a good image of one of these for a while....BG is not ideal for me but the light was just rising giving this great color. Crits appreciated

Dumay - this is very nice. I love the red of the lower breast and the spotted pattern. HA looks good and nice open beak. light has a nice golden look to it. You must be pleased with this. I may just clean up that piece of something on the top front part of the beak. Always unsure about whitewash on a perch? Do your remove it or let it be? The first bit closer to the bird may go and make the image better? BG looks ok to me but I guess a uniform grey/blue colour may have been more desirable. Oh well still a great image.

    Dumay,

I would say i just loved the way you captured.
Little bothered about two the poo patch on perch. The angled perch gives nice feel to the image.

HA, EXPO, Sharpness at its best. IMO, AIA a great image to have in kitty.

As you said you are not much liking to the bg, giving it hand for BG

PS > Levels > BLUE > 234 might give you a little diff look you might wanna check if you like it.

A stunning subject which is represented very well. I like the BG as it is. I think it compliments this sweet image. Might just take a little off the right side.

Stunning light and the open beak adds Dumay! The poo patches do not bother me as it is part of the natural environment and defines the perch!

Probably the only thing of Pilanesberg you miss there in Hoedspruit!

I love the background. The pinkish patch adds interest and gives some dimension. Light and subject, exquisite. I am in the poo removal camp as it adds nothing and we've all noticed it which means that it is taking away our interest in the subject. This image will be lingering in my brain all day.

Another really nice shot Dumay! So sharp! The cloud really helps make the BG a little more interesting. I like the idea of some bill and perch clean-up.

What a beautiful bird! The light is great and the IQ is very good. I like the soft background colors and the open beak.
