Really like the soft background and the position and intent gaze of the cheetahs is very nice. Glad the tail is visible as it adds to the overall effect. Would perhaps have liked the cheetahs' heads not quite so central but nicely done.

Marc,
As much as this is a very good pose, the lack of separation between the Cheetahs is bothersome.
I have no idea if you could move further left or what it would have achieved.

Hi Marc, not sure if you have changed your workflow, but the difference between this and your previous postings is huge.
The light and colour looks really good and very reflective of the location, love the banding of the grasses, horizon, sky. Perched on the mound surveying their territory is a classic, but to have included the tail and not cutting off illustrates how you thought about the shot. Sadly, having had to rotate the image slightly is a pain and we have all done that, been there, but you have achieved a good result. If you need a hint more then it's easy to do in CS5.
Well done on creating a good image.

Ken,
Good point and would have loved more space between the two and did attempt to achieve that by moving L & R, but whilst attempting this the pair moved in even closer.

The main difference between the two postings is the time of day and subsequent light conditions.
The ele image lighting (around 2.00pm) was much harsher than this one taken @ 5.26pm. As my work flow ie CS5
was really no different on both?

Nice setting, Marc! Do you have any where they looked right at you?
I don't mind the tail in the corner that much. I might be tempted to do some slight shadow recovery on the shaded parts of their faces (being careful not to overdo it
). Shaving some off the LHS will move the heads away from centre if that is bothersome to you (not a biggy for me here).

Thanks Morkel,
I have used what I felt was just enough shadow recovery already, hence not wanting to overdo it, ........to each there own

Like the comp and 3 D look here Marc. Having them close like this doesn't bother me at all and I like the placement of the tip of the tail.

Marc,
Just revisited this and I am a lot happier, the explanation of your workflow is interesting but not unexpected, and I agree with you on the S/H point, it is all so easily overdone and can produce some to totally unnatural looking images.

Lovely image, and apart from the mentioned separation (only the heads would more than do for me) it looks very fine to me. Colours give a great sesne of being in the Mara.
As usual they look well fed. Unfortunately, they appear to be permanently the two brothers now.

I heard that only a few weeks ago ALL 3 were still together?
Has this been confirmed Paul, quite sad if so. Do you know what happened to the third bros?
Cheers

Hi Marc,
I like the detail, your low POV and you have done well with the composition considering the tail and the rotation of the image.
Thanks for sharing, Mark.

Marc - nicely done. I like the tail sloping into the corner and the bg is very pleasing.

Unconfirmed news is lions got one of them, but for sure only two have been seen for at least a couple of weeks now (I was there until Monday) and the local guides are sure the third one is gone for good. I just saw some further confirmation on Kicheche's Faceboo page, too - no miraculous reappearance during the week. They had a good run though!
Edit: Sorry, I should qualify "the local guides" as the ones I spoke to.... but they are from two different camps that have had almost daily sightings of the three since they first came on the scene so I don't have much hope they are wrong - you know what 'stars' they are.
