I was out shooting almost all weekend and this ended up becoming one of my favorites from that time. I captured these leaves in a heavily wooded area early on Saturday morning. There were still many yellow leaves on the nearby trees so they formed a great soft BG for the ones in the FG. I used a fairly wide open aperture to blur the BG then took the image slightly high key in my processing with a soft white vignette popping in at the corners.

Beautiful image, Jules! I think this is one of my favorites of yours. Perfect composition and I love the soft, yellow BG(my favorite color!). If it were mine, I would probably remove the larger blurred branch in the BG. I also might tone down the leaf stems a little. Very well done.

Ditto Christopher but for the fact that I love the crossed branches and your carefully chosen perspective. How was it hanging on? Colors, light, and image design superb. Even though I like the vignetting I feel that this would also work great as a Macro post.

Thanks Chris and Artie. Christopher I left the BG branches in because of what Artie said...without them I think the image would be missing a little depth but...in 9 out of 1 cases I would have taken them out, too! Here it seems to work for me. Artie, it never even occurred to me that I had cut off where the one stem was still attached. Dang it! I was so busy lining up the branches I missed the "connection."

Jules, I love the colors and the comp. If it were mine I'd evict the large branch since it is hanging from somethin that is out of the scene anyway. Very nicely seen as always. These type of images are your thing-you just have a great eye for them.

Wonderful composition, Julie. I love how all the elements have come together. Nice soft bg and the twigs add to the depth. Excellent work

For me the missing connection adds mystery!
