More kites!
Yesterday was the 15th annual Japan-America Kite Festival in Seal Beach, California. I have been photographing this event for five years now and I love the color and spectacle of this event! This is a Blue Meanie with a purple fish above it, then "Smooches" the gecko, and below to the right is a flying saucer. On the ground there is a porcupine. These are all a type of kite called inflatables. They fill up with air and rise into the sky or stay on the ground like the porcupine.

Very nice image, Kerry. Amazing the variety of kites there are! How big are some of these kites?
Christopher, the gecko is a 50 foot kite and the blue meanie is 15 feet tall. There were bigger kites in the sky that day, including a few that are 150 feet long. It requires a lot of strength and agility to put these kites up and take them down!
