    Default Ele playtime

Had a wonderful time watching a small herd of ele's come down to drink and play from a hide above the river.
Taken at 2.00pm, yes the light is harsh but this wet ele's skin/texture has shown up here nicely as it negotiates this steep slope.

    D700 70-200 f/2.8VRII 1/500s f/8 ISO400@165mm. +CP filter. Near F/F. Ele hide, close to Sosian Ranch, Loisaba, Nth Kenya, Oct 2010

    Cheers
    Marc

    Marc,

You have got some remarkable detail here, the harsh light does not bother me as it brings out the detail even more.

Also a great pose and eye contact.

Just one question any ideas as to the dark patch on the lower trunk?

Perhaps the tusk shadow, but maybe not?

Cute capture Marc, with that nice sheen he/she looks almost plastic.

    Hi Marc,
Very cute capture. I like the sheen on the ellie's wet hide, the detail, composition and the action.
    Thanks for sharing.

Marc - you did very well in the harsh light and I think you're right that it added something here. Lovely sheen, texture and detail as well as fun behavior to see.

The wet skin works well here Marc - you also managed to capture a nice dynamic pose further enhanced by the diagonal motion...
Ditto - the shadow of the tusk

I like the pose, especially the bent knee. You have got a good behaviour. The texture in the skin is nice. Thanks for sharing.
