I like the framing here Sid, with a nice V formation, but my first instinct upon viewing said if only for a direct look to take this over the top.
A great capture nonetheless!

Sid, nice portrait. I like the playing cubs the best of the series so far. But for this shot I assume you shot it at 400mm? and how much of a crop? Because you look pretty darn close in this pic. I agree with Marc's comments on the framing and the "If only..." Still, this close, very cool.

Love the crop and style of the image Sid, agree that some light and contact in the eyes would have made this totally mesmerising.

Hi Sid,
I really like the symmetry here and such an intense close-up. I like that the bear's eyes are looking far away at "something," which makes me a bit more daring to be so up close and personal with a bear. Love it! Wonderful. TFS Ann

Tom,
Shot at 400mm and around 50% crop.

Sid, I agree with all the above suggestions. On my monitor I would also wish for a bit more sharpening.

I have to take a look at this image when I get back home on my big screen Ed. I just looked this image on another laptop and I guess it need a bit more USM.
Thanks.

Thanks Ken. I shot this one for the cover of my coffee table book on polar bears( hoping to make one this time).

Looks a very 'soulful' expression Sid. The symmetrical composition is perfect.
Is it a bit of ice/snow that is on the fur, top just by the trim about an inch in from the RHS?

Hi Sid,
Lovely image, I like the symmetry and the composition. The bear does seem to be thinking of something, not sure, maybe a meal. On my minitor may require a little bit more sharpening.
Thanks for sharing,
Mark.

Sid - Lovely close up portrait. I too like the symmetry and comp. While eye contact might be nice, it would change the contemplative feel here. Agree on a tad more sharpening.

Hi Sid, Love the image, while a direct gaze would have more of a connection with the viewer I find the down ward gaze you have captured here has a more vulnerable quality that for me symbolizes their struggle with survival in a changing world.
Glad you are home save my friend and cannot wait to see more of your images from the trip.

Nice tight crop and I like the detail in the whites. Would like to see a little more direct eye contact, but, of course, beyond your control!
