Here is one from back in January off of the back deck. I tried and tried and tried and TRIED to get a decent picture of this little guy when he would scream in at Mach 3 grab a beakful of PB/suet and scream off again. This was the best I got - I really wish you could see more of his red crown, but I'll sure take it.

Nikon D70, Nikkor 400 mm, f/2.8, 1/320th second, ISO 200, tripod from chair blind on the back deck with a dead cedar limb clamped to the railing as a perch, cropped for composition.

Nice pose, and good job of catching one of this little guys at all.

I bit of selective lightening of the bird would be my choice. I'd also consider a composition where lower left bit of the perch enters the frame from the corner, i.e., a crop from the bottom.

Hi Robert, I agree with Jim on the crop and would like to see the whole thing lighter. These guys are not easy so you did well.

Did you get my check yet for Little Saint Simons? Later and love, artie

These tiny guys are tough to photograph! I love the pose and great that you can see the ruby dot. The entire image is too dark though - an easy fix.

You did a great job. I am learning but I gave it a try and end up with this, please tell me what you do think about it.

Great job on lightening it up, Juan Carlos. It looks a little over-sharpened for my tastes now, but again that is a relatively easy fix.
