Have tried something different in this shot, not sure if it works...

    Craig,

I think that both looking at you is good and helps the image have impact. I am not crazy about the read hoof peaking into the image on the right. It this is cropped vertically, perhaps adding more back to the right would be good. I don't think you can crop it out as that gets to close to the ear. Of course cloning is an option if you so desire.

I feel more detail is needed in the shadows for the quasi mono-toned treatment to work. I tried shadow.highlight correction in PS and it revealed a lot of details but introduced a heavy brown tone that may not be to your liking so that would need attention.

Very nice composition Craig. Like the eye contact from both.

    Craig,

I am not normally a B & W fan but this a good choice for the conversion, excellent HA's, leg does not bother me but could probably be easily cloned out.

Craig - I like the choice of b&w and good suggestions above for taking this up another level.

Craig - interesting conversion. I am normally not a big fan of adding tones to a monochrome and might have done this in straight B&W. Robert highlighted some issues I agree with. I think this might be even better with a pano landscape crop to just show the two juxtaposing faces...WDYT?

A repost in Black and White with an improved crop and a little more detail in the blacks -
