Default The BOND - African Elephants

The visit to Kenya did not yield many sighting of these awesome creatures . Here , in the Indian forests the size of the animals are accentuated because of the fact that you normally sight them in close quarters and also because of the thick forests . In Africa these animals seem dwarfed by the very environment they inhabit . Was lucky to get this mother - child together . The mother immediately fanned its ears to look bigger and tried to come in between our jeep and its child .

Love the maternal bonding exhibited here Rakesh, with nice inclusion of the environment. Seeing a slight blue cast on the ele's here, a slight WB warming would also fix.

Nice moment here Rakesh...though I would have liked a bit more space on the RHS and less on the LHS, just seems like 'dead space' as it is and having more on the RHS would have made the composition a bit more 'dynamic' .
The head of mom looks a bit blurry - opening up the aperture to f5.6 would have allowed a bit more SS while still getting good DOF here.

I like the repost Rakesh and a lovely moment captured. Love it when they fan their ears.

I agree with Morkel's points. I tried a square crop using a ROT grid and a power point in the adults head. I like the results so might be another option for you.

The adult and child look great together. Try sharpening the head some more on the adult. I like the tone of the elephants in the repost.

Very nice comp but there looks like there is blur (motion?) but they seem OOF...Your usual IQ on your Wildlife images is something that usually impresses and blows me away and makes me wonder how you achieve it...But this one is lacking for me on the IQ front

Hi Rakesh, looked at this many times yesterday and I think the repost address one of my thoughts. I like the original composition, but think that Roberts alternative crop would be worth exploring too. Sadly, as mentioned earlier and above, the IQ isn't quite there due to SS and slight movement, but still a good moment to capture.

Steve , The composition is exactly the same in both the posts . In the repost , I just toned down the blue channel . It rained a lot during my visit and I had to contend with overcast conditions , and therefore ended up using HI ISO during most of my trip . Here , too , I should have gone beyond 1250 , but was unsure of the output , as the elephants were darker in colour . Sometimes the balancing act just does not work .
