Hi Morkel,
I like the composition, on the left third, just not sure of the crop. Good detail and background.
Thanks for sharing, Mark.
PS: Are you thinking of getting the D800, 36mpix, only 4fps, tba on the 25/10?

Thanks Mark. This kind of comp is always going to be 50/50 to most. I like including space and environmental context in much of my wildlife photography. I cropped to pano to minimise the sky here, and juxtaposed the closer elephant with the distant OOF one and the treeline behind the marshes.
I will wait and see what those announcements entail. Much of the rumours going around are exaggerated. I am happy with my D3s/D7000 combo at the moment (so is my budget!

I would definitely crop out a fair amount of the bottom! Doing so would not remove environmental context.

Thanks Jay. Will have a look and see how it looks to me. I quite like the feeling of shooting at "grassroots" level that the OOF FG gives me.

Very nice Morkel, like the subtle colors and included habitat. Elephant looks relaxed, nice roaming feel to it. I see what Jay means regarding cropping some off bottom, but think this works well.

Love the swagger on this bull Morkel, effective lighting, comp & framing as well.

Couldn't agree more, if the D800 specs are correct, it would not be ideal for wildlife use IMO. For me......I'll wait and see what the D4 brings.

Hi Morkel, like the POV and crop works well, personally would have preferred both elephants swopped, so the FG is on the RHS looking in (as is), the distant one just on the LHS.

Lovely compo, Morkel . Really unsure whether the OOF elephant adds to the image . Also , Steve's suggestion would be worth a look in ...case of adding more canvas on the left and cropping from the RHS .

Morkel - I too like the swagger and the inclusion of the environment. Nice colors too. Ideally might have preferred them swapped as Steve suggests but nature doesn't always cooperate.

Hi Morkel, like the environmental feel of this one with lovely light and colour. I think I would also consider some off the bottom as I think more of a pano will compliment the positioning of the Ellies, but respect your feeling of shooting at "grassroots" level.

No worries Morkel, the power of PS. In an ideal world I guess.
