Ptarmigans are well adapted to their environment. If I see a rock moving on the tundra I know it's a Ptarmigan. Can't wait to see the White-tailed Ptarmigan in his winter plumage.

Hi Steve, very nice choice for the theme and a great bird also. It is certainly no mystery why they hang out in this environment! Thanks for sharing the camouflage image.

Hi Steve,
Amazing adaptation and wonderful coloring. Great theme picture one of my favorites. Very original and a species not on my list. Generally, I do not use ISO 100, too limiting. Most often use 400 and once in a while 200. As you know the larger the number the more light sensitive the sensor. Moreover, when you double the ISO you add a full stop of light allowing faster shutter speeds to make images critically sharp. In this example, ISO 200 would have given you twice the shutter speed, just something to keep in mind, thanks for sharing.
Camouflage to perfection and ptarmigan need it as almost everything seems to eat them!
