We had been watching the sow & two spring cubs fishing upstream, Mom continued, but the other two got board and went off to explore along the riverbank, but always staying in close proximity to Mom. As they weaved their way through the vegetation of tall grass one of them popped out very close to where we were sitting, hence the stand off look. Not too sure who was the more surprised?
Having seen Artie's posting some cub 6-7 weeks ago, it was almost a dead ringer for this one, but it couldn't have been, or could it?

Great image Steve, nice detail and great timing to capture the surprised look. I think that is about the time I would have made my exit, must have been pretty close.
Hi Steve,
I really like the soft light of this. The detail is excellent (as usual) and the color of the grasses are vibrant but natural. Of course I also like the pose. Kind of a "what do I do next" moment.
