    Robert:

Pays to keep an open mind about what to shoot!

I really like the perch, the spikes rather repeat his bill.

Well exposed for the bird. The overall impression of the image is a bit bright for me, but of course, I live in Michigan, where dreary is the state wide forecast sometimes!

I would consider a slightly tighter crop from above and a bit from the left to show the bird off better and help a bit with the brightness as well.

    Cheers

Lovely shot, a little too bright for me I checked the histogram, I would suggest bring up the black slider and then possibly reduce the brightness a tad.

Nice pose, lovely background and nice composition, Robert. Love the slightly diagonal "poky" perch as well.

Super pose from the woodpecker, and an interesting looking perch with all those spikes. Another vote to bring in from the left, and maybe just a touch of toning down the BG.

Thank you all for all the comments. Here is the image with the suggestions I recieved. I took some off the left and top and darkened the bg a bit.

The repost looks better. Lovely perch, composition, and BG. Just wish for a little more headturn towards the camera.

    Robert:

Much improved for me, really shows him off better and reduces the impact of the bright background somewhat also.

    Cheers
