I took this image at Lone Elk Wildlife Preserve. Started with Simplify, a bit of Glow for effect, Tonal Contrast and Fog to smooth out the mist. Hope you like it..............

Absolutely lovely! My eye rises with the fog and goes to the glowing single birch tree. Just the right amount of color and detail in the bkgd. What program has glow, tonal contrast & fog?

Hi Nancy, Thanks for the comments. It's all NIK's stuff. Glow is called Glamour Glow (Orton Effect).......it's all available in NIK's pluggin, CE 3 and 4 (just released).

Hi Jay, love the processing and the comp! Especially the mist! If it were mine I might evict the horizontal tree trunk from what looks like a fallen down tree. The dark horizontal line from the trunk seems out of place with the rest of the elements in the comp and keeps drawing my attention.

Jay, I love all of your foggy images including this one. The filters you've used almost look like you've used textures. I really like the glowing birch and the line of darker trunks to the left

Jay, Good suggestions above. I like the fog and "feel" to this one. I'm not crazy about the 50-50 split of the image but the image has a lot of appeal and I like the processing.

Hi Jay, really nice image and I agree with comments above. For my eye, I would crop about half of the water from the bottom. I really like the fog and glow effects. Well done!

    Thanks for the feedback everyone...............

Kerry and Denise, here is a RP to see if that helps? It's about half off the bottom.

Jay, I think this is perfect! I like the fact that you just de-emphasized the horizontal log rather than evicting it

    Jay,
I think I would have cropped a bit from the top and right and left the fog area which I love so much. From the original the image "sweeps" to the left and the area behind the main tree is less important to the scene. I would still leave the thick tree trunk in along w/ a nice sized buffer about half way from the edge). The top -I would be sure to include the curved branch w/ a small buffer above. But it is your image and your vision as MF would say.

Denise, Funny, I actually cropped a bit from the bottom in the OP, so I put it back in and took some off the top and right,as suggested. More off the top? My vision on this is a bit fluid. I liked the bright birch, and the scene to the left of the main tree, including the curved branch of BG tree, and of course the fog. I like this image more and more, so any additional feedback will be most welcome.

Cheryl, this may have more than one view.....I would also value your feedback on this take.

I think it helps make the tree stand out more and creates more of a mood.

Jay, OK, I like your last repost the best but would prefer the lighter version. It's a nice image no matter how you cut it
