Default Cheetah … after the kill

    Attached Images Attached Images

A different cheetah shown here taking a break from feeding with his two brothers. Harsh mid day sun in the Masai Mara. I thought by posting a few different portraits of the same species, I can see what difference the processing is making under different lighting conditions. Thanks for any comments and suggestions.

Again I can see a huge improvement in your PP here (You will now start enjoying your results from your 7D) Nice smooth BG, as your NR skills in PP improve the noise issues you had mentioned in the past will be a distant memory. Only thing for me in this image is the fact that there is too much shadow on the right (Cheetahs left) side of the face and body...Looking forward to your reworks of some of your previous images.

Thanks Dumay, agree with you on the shadow.

I must point out though, that my noise issues with the 7D will become very obvious when I get back into processing images with ISOs over 800 … I'm cheating here with low ISOs!!

Looks like you are now mastering your PP skills based on this Hilary, agree with Dumay about the shadow. Might add a fraction more above.

Yes, there is shadow on cheetahs left. What I would expect from sun angle and pose, so looks natural to me. V nice PP everything considered. And like Harshard says, the bit of blood makes it more interesting.

Hilary - Nice detail, color and sharpness. Shadow doesn't bother me. Nice clean bg too. Love the curved tongue.

    Details look very good, Hilary!
I think you can get some more from the shadowed side of the face without making it look very "unnatural" with some selective dodging instead of the old S/H tool...

Yeah, as Morkel says, maybe just try dodging the eyes a bit to see if can be made brighter but still natural.
