I really the framing. The pose and detail are nice. Nice muted background and the ripples in the water add interest. I'm thinking the lighting is from the side/or rear and the bird seems to need some lightening/contrast. Keep in mind, I post here maybe twice a year so what do I know.

This is very nice with the color of the water and concentric ripples, when the subject is back or side lit you need to use fell flash or the subject will look flat. If you are not using flash at the time of capture you can use the highlight shadow tool or the curves tool in PS to "un-flatten" the tones and give the subject more life, this often requires a careful tone curve plus some bump in the sat.
