    Default GBH and the eel...

    Attached Images Attached Images

The weather here in Cape Breton this weekend has been lousy as Hurricane Ophelia brushes the coast. However, there was a lull yesterday am before the rain and I watched this GBH catch 5 flat fish and this eel. He wrestled with it for 3 minutes but the eel won. It was a dark and cloudy morning...
I practiced checking histogram and making sure that I was to the right.

I considered upping the contrast but I like the softness

    Hi Gail,
I like the detail, the background and the action of the heron with, I would assume, an eel.
The mistiness adds to the atmosphere. I would however, crop to just below the reflection to prevent a sandwich affect.
Well done and thank you for sharing.

Very pretty photo. I agree with a bit off the bottom and some more at the top if you have it.
The BG color is so nice I would like more of it.
The Heron is sharp as can be. All in All, it looks like a nice watercolor painting.

    Gail,

You have got the bird in perfect sharp situation and the prey is plus .
Yes i would also crop off lil bottom.

But the biggest difficulty for me IMO is the glow where birds back gets mix and makes it hard to differentiate. Would have been good few feet on your right the shooting point to avoid the glow.

Thanks everyone. I will take a bit off bottom and add more on top.
    Mital,
I hadn't noticed the glow. Good catch. I Will tone it down,

    Mark,
It took me awhile to understand "the sandwich effect but now I get it!!

Never have seen a GBH with an eel. Very cool. Love the RP. Interesting background and compliments the GBH.

    Hey Gail,

Sweet catch and repost. You don't see too many with an eel; too bad he didn't get to keep it. Nice work.
