This was taken at sunset. At first I thought he might have been hurt but he was just resting as he got up and started feeding after a while. Slight NR and USM.

    Canon 7D, 100-400L IS, f/8, 1/500, ISO 1250, EV +1.3

Thanks for looking. Comments and suggestions appreciated

Nice soft light, I like the diagonal line of the wave and the pastel reflection of the sunset. The bird is placed perfectly on the ROT intersection for a well composed image. Wish the bird was in a more natural pose, it does look injured the way it is but glad to hear it's OK.

Hi Cheryl, I like the light and composition and the colors are wonderful, so pastel and soft. A little bit of fill flash would have helped the bird stand out from the bg. The pose is definitely different, but I like the behavior shown by it.

This is a really nice composition, Cheryl. Unique pose and quiet scene you captured, love the subtle color, soft light reflection, and curve to the water line. Well done!

I like the composition too, Cheryl. The curve of the wave and the position of the bird in the frame works very well. I understand why you thought he was hurt, but glad he wasn't.

Nice composition and soft light in BG...I wish the same light was on bird too...else fill flash would have made the diff here...TFS

Thanks everyone for your comments. I'm not sure if I can post an image here that I've used Nik effects on but I used Nik Reflector Effects with a soft gold light which hopefully simulates the omitted fill flash
