These birds are so beautiful during breeding season as the colors of the face become so vibrant. This one was taken this past April at the North beach lagoon FtDeSoto.

In Hindsight, being so close I wished for one more stop for DOFon the body. I think it's OK but would have been better.

Hi Cheryl! I agree about the DOF. I suspect you could have easily gone to f/11 without losing the beautiful OOF background. More often than not I shoot between f/10 and f/13 at Ft. D. especially once sunrise is 45 minutes or more passed.
    Cheers!

Beautiful portrait, a lot of detail in the whites, I am not sure stopping down would improve it that much.
I would maybe sharpen the beak a bit more.
    Very pretty pastel colors.

Your self critique explained all you could have done.
may i wish for may be a more lower angle to avoid the intersection of that sea dark line or lightening a bit of that while in processing.

Excellent clarity and exposure is bang on.

Hi David, That much dof with a 2.8 as well? I didn't have the converter on so I was thinkin 8.0 would have been perfect being so close. Thanks see you soon.

Thanks Mital, You know I may consider softening that line. I hadn't really noticed it being so bold but now Ido.

This is an awesome portrait, Cheryl. Your EXP looks spot on. The line in the BG doesn't bother me in the least. Love the colors here and looking forward to more of this gorgeous bird next season!
