This is a beautiful image. I love the wing spread. I am OK with the branches as it grounds the image but would be OK if they were not there. The IQ is superb as is the HH technique!
My only nit is that the tail is in shadow. Would love to have this in my portfolio!

Absolutely stunning image, Ken. Those colors and patterning are so beautiful. What exceptional detail you've captured here. Great comp.
I am fine with the branches.

Agree with Sid...killer wing and tail spread....stunning details. A tad more room above, perhaps.

Hey Ken, what a great image on your return. Excellent banking angle, and the light is cast on the eye perfectly. Did I mention how sharp this is. ( thanks for the kind words too - much appreciated. )

Amazing light and detail on those wings. Do the tail feathers not have gold in them or is it the lighting? Just curious. Gorgeous wing spread and detail on the face as well.

Thanks everybody for your kind comments

    Cheryl,

This is I believe the first Greater Kestrel I have ever seen, but checking my "Birds of Africa" it appears that the tail colour is correct.

Killer pose. It looks a tad short of razor sharp.... N.B. I would deliberately remove the branches

Beautiful spread. I love the wing detail and the patterns in the back. Great capture of a very fast bird.

    Harshad, Cheryl and Herb,

    Thanks for your kind comments

    Art,

I think that the majority of comments I have had say clone out the branches, but I agree with some who have said it anchors the image.
