During my recent trip to Botswana, we came across this Saddle-billed stork in a slight ravine. It was late afternoon, thus the warm colours. This is a female as she has the yellow eyes, and the male has brown eyes. I have a few full body images which I will post later. I could have blended in the BG, but left as is.

    Stuart,
This is lovely. I like the softness and fluffiness of the crown feathers. The comp is great and the diagonal line of the bill is great. The light is awesome. I would definitely blend the BG a bit. A superb shot and one I hope to get in 3 weeks!!!

Stuart, loved the light in this one. Despite the light angle, you did very very well. Eye and bill catch attention quickly...very nice.

What a beautiful image. I love the background. I'm on my work monitor, so not 100% sure of this but the whites on his back look bright. Even if they are not hot, I'd burn them in a bit as the eye always wants to drift to the brightest spot.

One of my very favorite birds on the planet. I would do a bit of work on the BKGR right above and below the head, otherwise quite pleasing. Sharp with the right EXP.

    Stuart:

Just an amazing bird to look at, so much character.

Excellent DOF for this long billed lady.

    Great eye.

Yes, I could see some background tweaking. I might consider trying to get just a bit more tonal separation between the BG and the bird to help it pop even more.

    Look forward to more.

    Cheers
