I think this just about fits the theme, the blue tit was going to the feeder and did a quick about turn as it touched the feeder, I think the sound of the shutter spooked it.

    All C & C welcome.

Jonathan, great inflight 'ballet' pose, and just love how the head is turned one way, and the feet are still facing the way he was heading. Cool mottled BG, and sharp where it counts. Im actually surprised your ss didnt freeze more of the wings.

    Jonathan,

This is indeed beautiful image you presented here. I am too surprise with SS on still its low at 1/2500 to freeze wings then what would be the Tit's speed of flight ?

    One Lovely image

Loved that dynamic pose and the sharp head with blurred wings. The multicolored BG is also nice. You've cropped it very well...a tad room below might help. Good job of AF against that BG...or was it manually set to that distance?

Thank you for your kind comments. The technique I used was to prefocus on the orifice of the feeder , then set to manual focus and them move the frame so that the feeder was just outside of view. I kept an eye on the hedge to see when the birds launched themselves and I fired the shutter with a remote release. This is a full frame image with no cropping or repositioning - just as it was.

I was hoping that you did not focus track this little rocket. Ditto Arash.

Cool pose and nice BG. Face is nice and sharp. I wish this fella was higher in the frame.

October came early in the U.K.!
