Default American Pika Poses at 14,000-ft

American pika poses by dcstep, on Flickr

Canon 7D, EF 500 f/4L IS, EF 1.4x TC, Av Mode, ISO 800, +1EV, f/5.6 resulting in 1/4000th sec. hand held. Processed with DxO Optics Pro 6.6, only requiring levels and this square crop for the internet.

This is at the top of Mount Evans, Colorado, just an hour from Downtown Denver. An easy drive, in summer, all the way to the top.

Hi Stephen, I like the body position echoing the incline of the rock. Would like a bit more detail/clarity in the eye, but the light looks quite strong which has prevented that. Not sure where the focus point was paced, but if it was the eye I think you would have more detail in the face, especially around the nose & whiskers.

Please note, maximum height is 800px not 1024px, thanks.

Nice pose of the Pika in the rocky environment. Sharpness has been mentioned and I might consider toning down the brightness of the rocks to focus more attenrion on the Pika.

    David,
I like his position relative to the rock and you got a nice clean BG for his head. Agree with previous posters that the focus on the head seems just slightly off but I think some sharpening on the head/face only will correct it nicely.
